• A poor welcome

  I have just returned from a night out in Leeds and we thought we'd try Little Tokyo. Unfortunately we never got as far as sitting down and ordering food because of the ignorant attitude of the blonde guy on the door who completely ignored us for 5 minutes and then allowed the waitress to seat someone else before us. When we asked him to tell the waitress we had been waiting for some time, he just laughed and shrugged his shoulders. Not a great start. So, we decided to take our hard earned cash elsewhere. If any of the staff/management are reading this - get rid of that guy, he is doing nothing for your reputation and does not create a good first impression.

• Love it!

  My boyfriend and I went to Little Tokyo a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday night. We were told we didnt need to book as there were only two of us, but when we turned up at 7:45 we were asked to put our names down and come back in half an hour. It was packed! So we went for a drink and returned at 8:20. We were seated immediately. We followed our waitress towards the back of the restaurant and downstairs. I didn't even realise it had a downstairs and was already overwhelmed by the size of the place. It looks so small from the outside.We hadn't been before and we were sat on a sunken table to give the illusion we were sat on the floor, not very comfy though as they were wooden benches with no backrest. After spending 20mins working out the menu we were ready to order and got a beer each, some spring rolls to share and a bento box each. I ordered chicken terreyaki and David had chicken katsu. We waited over half an hour for our food to come, but when it did (at 9:20) it was amazing. The bento boxes were so big we didnt need the spring rolls (but ate them anyway). They came with the chicken we'd ordered, tempura veg, rice, salad and soy sauce.During our wait, although a little too long, we were entertained by the staff. There were two birthday parties there and the staff were coming over with a gong, then singing happy birthday before shining a huge spotlight on the birthday person and bringing out ice cream with a firework in! Brilliant!We didn't have deserts as we were both so full and it was also almost 11pm. But there were still more people arriving.We're going back in two weeks time for my mum's birthday and cant wait. The atmosphere and decor are so much fun and you're made to feel so welcome.Would reccomend to anyone and everyone. Plenty of vegetarian dishes, really cheap (our meal came to £35 in total for both of us) and so different from anywhere else in Leeds. I would suggest to get there early if there are only two of you or book if there are more.Great for kids too as there is so much to look at and keep you occupied.Definitely in my top ten of Leeds Restaurants!

• Little Tokyo

  Little Tokyo is situated in Leeds city centre, it provides an authentic Japanese atmosphere with decadent Japanese decor. Upon arrival service is excellent and continues to be so through out the evening. The tables and seating are authentically low , the quality of the food is brillantly high. There is a wide range of Japanese treats on the menu, ranging from fresh and delicious sushi, to rice and noodle dishes and suburb platters of marinaded meats and fish. The food is excellent and reasonably priced.There is also a range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks on the menu, again at a reasonable price. The sarki, whether served hot or cold is a delicacy not to be missed. The prices may be little but the quality is great in Little Tokyo
